Hayao Miyazaki is respected by anime fans everywhere for his arful work, directing some of the most famous and classic anime stories such as Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away. In Japan he is something of a celebrity with his latest heart-warming tale, Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea, grossing ¥10 billion in its first month of release and $194 million worldwide to date.
British newspaper, the Telegraph, posted a rare exclusive interview with director Miyazaki on their website. Miyazaki talks about still using a pencil to animate and never studying psychology despite his insights about children.
The interview is to promote Ponyo's British opening on February 12.

Crayon Shin-chan, the story of a five-year-old Japanese boy with a knack for inappropriate behavior, will be turned into an online roleplaying game by Korean game studio WindySoft in conjunction with DaeWon Media and Rainfall Soft.
Windysoft is known for other games such as Infinity Online, a room-based hack and slash, and even working on an online version of Katamari Damacy (the game where you run into things to roll them up into a giant ball). Daewon specializes in character and animation businesses in Korea.

Fans got a deeper look at the anime adaptation of the 12-volume Katanagatari when a new three-minute promotional video was added to the official website. The anime, which has one episode for each volume of the series, begins airing on January 25.
The story takes place in medieval Japan, centering around Shichika Yasuri, head of a kyoto martial arts school. He lives with his older sister on an isolated island until a military advisor seeks him out to find 12 swords forged by a legendary swordsmith.

Viz Media, considered Manga Publisher of the Year in 2007 by Diamond Comic Distributors, has announced a set of manga volumes coming out this holiday season focused chiefly on a young female audience. Among the titles are <u>The Art of Gentlemen's Alliance</u> (Arina Tanemura), <u>Beast Master</u> (Kyousuke Motomi), and <u>Vampire Knight</u> (Matsuri Hino).
