Traverse City, MI (June 12, 2009) - The Northern Michigan Anime Convention has announced Vic Mignogna as special guest for their August 8th and 9th convention in Traverse City.

This North Michigan Anime Con will host special guests from the anime industry and feature anime screenings during both days of the event.

Well-known voice actor Mignogna is best known for his role as the voice of Edward Elric in the anime Fullmetal Alchemist, which was a nationwide hit when it aired on the Cartoon Network's adult cartoon block, Adult Swim.

Fan favorite Baka Savant Productions, will return as special guests again this year. Baka Savant produces Chronicles of the Annoying Quest, a parody series on YouTube using video game animation to tell stories, fast becoming a popular way to direct videos online.

The convention will also feature a 'special event' taking place, real-time during the entire NMACon.

With this year's record numbers at Anime Expo, and 4.6% more attendees at Otakon, it looks like anime fandom is strong for big conventions. Recently reports of declining anime fandom, coupled with current economic conditions have been putting many on edge.

Otakon president Matt Smiechowski said, "I was actually expecting it to be on par with, if not lower than, last year's pre-registration total."

These developments could mark an important point, and cause us to ask an important question: is fandom really in decline?

Baltimore, MD (July 10, 2009) – American voice actor and dub director Mike McFarland, who has worked on a wide variety of popular series, will be a guest at Otakon 2009.

McFarland got his start in anime as one of the first voice actors in Texas to be hired by FUNimation Productions in 1997, and has since moved on to become a director, script writer, and line producer for numerous anime series. Notable roles include Master Roshi, Yajirobe, Android #8 and Pui-Pui in Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, Baby and Baby-Vegeta in Dragon Ball GT, Goemon in Lupin The Third (Movie Specials), Ritsu Sohma in Fruits Basket, Lt.

Baltimore, MD (July 10, 2009) – Funimation will premier its English dub of Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone at Otakon 2009. The film will be shown twice: Friday, 17 July at 8 p.m. and Saturday, 18 July at 12:30 p.m.

The original Neon Genesis Evangelion television series first aired in 1995-1996 and is considered by many to be a modern classic.
