Middle January Convention Weekend Recap

This past week had a few great conventions, all around the country. There were lots of different conventions, including the Virginia MarsCon, Sac-Anime Con, and Anime-ZAP!. While January is a slower month than most, we're seeing more and more conventions year-round.

Image from Joygazm's coverage of Anime-ZAP! This week has seen announcements ranging from Wizard New Orlean's announcement of a Chewbacca actor to Anime-zing! announcing the return of Eyeshine. What we're excited about most this week is Joygazm's video montage of Anime-ZAP! It shows just how packed and fun this smaller 500+ person convention can be. We can't help feeling that a Dubstep version is needed considering Anime-ZAP's opening ceremonies.

The video shows everything from Vendors selling retro gameboy systems to a Manga library with a ton of Manga. Nearly every room shown is well filled, and there's some awesome moments of congoers getting glomped on stage and some nice shots of the con's rave.

Some notes from this week include wondercon announcing their masquerade details and a steampunk convention happening now.
